Adding a Username and Password
Note: The Log In with Facebook feature was discontinued in 2015; if you signed up after that point, you will not have some of the buttons/features shown in this doc.
If you currently use the Log In with Facebook button to log in to ShortStack, you can add a username and password. This makes it easier to share your account with co-workers and lets you log in even when Facebook is experiencing trouble. To do this:
- Log in to ShortStack.
- From the Dashboard, click on your name in the top-right corner of the page and then click Preferences.
- Click the Edit button in the Username & Password section of the Preferences screen.
- Enter a Username and New Password into the appropriate fields. Then click the blue Save button.
Unlinking Your Facebook Account
If you have both a username/password and a Facebook profile linked to your ShortStack account, you can unlink your Facebook account at any time. You might want to do this if you’re going to hand over the account to a co-worker or client.
- Log in to ShortStack with your username and password.
- From the Dashboard, click on your name in the top-right corner of the page and then click Preferences.
- Click the Edit button in the Username & Password section of the Preferences screen.
- Down below the new password field, you'll see the profile pic for your Connected Facebook Account. Click the trash can icon to the right of the image to unlink the account.
Transferring Your Account to Another Person
To transfer your account to another person:
- Create a new username and password, share that username and password with the new owner, and instruct the new owner to change the password after they've logged in.
- If your Facebook account is connected to the ShortStack account, disconnect it first (see the Unlinking your Facebook Account section above).
- Change the email address to the new owner’s email address.
- If you have a paid subscription, make sure the new owner enters new contact and payment information.
Note: We are not responsible for payment issues that arise from transferring your account but the new owner not updating the account's payment information.
