Supported Mobile Devices
All Internet browsers identify themselves with what is called a user agent string. This string can tell a web server about the capabilities of a particular browser. We use this string to check if a visitor is using a mobile browser, and if so, show the mobile version of your Campaign.
Unfortunately, there is no standard way to designate that a browser is coming from a mobile device, so Campaign URLs won’t correctly detect every mobile browser, but almost all smartphones (iOS, Android, BlackBerry, etc.) should be detected correctly as mobile.
To test if your device is correctly detected:
- Enter a Campaign URL into your mobile browser and see what happens. If you see your Campaign, your device is supported. Otherwise, read on.
- Go to http://shortstackapp.com/ua_check and note what you see.
- Send us a support ticket requesting that we add Campaign URL support for this particular user agent string, and include the complete user agent string and the brand/model of the smartphone you tested.
BlackBerry Support
Some users have reported problems viewing Campaigns on their BlackBerry devices, specifically when interacting with Facebook features, like "Log in with Facebook."
BlackBerry devices using Blackberry 5 OS or earlier use a proprietary browser that is likely the cause of these problems. BlackBerry OS 6 and later uses a Webkit browser, which is also used in iPhones, so we expect these browsers to work without any problems.
If your users complain about problems viewing your Campaign on their BlackBerry, try to determine the BlackBerry operating system they are using, or you can have them visit http://shortstackapp.com/ua_check and reply with the results. If the user agent string says "Mobile Safari," then they are using the newer Webkit browser, in which case we’d like to know about any problems they might be having. Unfortunately, we don’t support the older, proprietary BlackBerry browser.
