Overview
Embedding your campaign directly onto your website is a great way to drive traffic, but with so many website builders available, issues can sometimes arise. This guide outlines some simple troubleshooting steps to resolve common embed problems.
1. This Site Can't Be Reached
If you see this error where you should see your campaign, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
When creating and testing campaigns, you might first test all campaign functionality on your staging website before embedding your campaign on your production site. Most staging and production site URLs are different — for example, stagingmysite.com vs mysite.com.
How to verify the URL
- Open the campaign in the Campaign Builder.
- Open the Publications Manager by selecting the blue flag icon at the top right of the Builder.
- The URL where the campaign is expected to be embedded is listed first in the info pane.
Solution
If the URL differs from your staging or production URL, add the domain to your connected sites.
- Open the settings for the publication by clicking on the gear icon.
-
Click the small text: Edit Site Settings. This will take you to the connected site settings automatically.
- Add the staging URL to the domain list. Save and exit.
- Refresh your staging page — your campaign should now display correctly.
2. Slow Embed Load Times
For Scale Plan users, ShortStack uses Cloudflare Turnstile as an added security measure to block bots. However, if enabled, this can slow down your embed's loading time.
How to disable this feature:
- Open the Campaign Settings (gear icon) in the Campaign Builder.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Uncheck the Enable if my campaign is embedded option.
Note: This option is unchecked by default.
If you do not have Cloudflare Turnstile enabled, the slow embed load time could be related to your browser. Here's how to check:
- Test on a different browser.
- Test on a different network, such as your cellular provider or at a coffee shop.
- Disable any plugins on your browser.
- Open the page in incognito mode in Chrome.
If any of the above troubleshooting options provide faster load times, then it is likely your specific browser or network. In this case, most visitors will not experience the same results as you.
