ShortStack themes control the look and feel of your campaigns by compiling a set of variables into CSS. This guide briefly explains how themes work, what it means when a theme is "out-of-date," and what options you have to update them.
Theme Types
ShortStack themes come in three different visibility levels:
- Public Themes
- Available to all users.
- Account Themes
- Accessible only to users within your current account. These are the custom themes you choose to save.
- Campaign Themes
- Start as a public or account theme, but once you make any changes, ShortStack creates a campaign theme that applies only to that specific campaign.
How To Update One Theme
Occasionally, when adding new features to campaigns or new settings in the Style Panel, we'll update the base CSS used to compile themes. When this happens:
- Public themes get updated automatically.
- Campaign themes for unpublished campaigns get updated automatically when the campaign is loaded into the Campaign Builder.
- Campaign themes for published campaigns, and account themes are only updated with your permission. When the campaign is loaded into the Campaign Builder, you'll see a prompt with these options:
-
- Update: Updates the theme immediately. For account themes, the changes will be immediately reflected in all published campaigns. For campaign themes, the changes won't be reflected in the live version until you click Publish Changes.
- Skip: Defers the upgrade, for now. (Note: If skipped, the update prompt will reappear the next time you load the campaign in the builder.)
How to Update All Account Themes
The following applies only to account owners and team admins:
When you're in the Builder, if any other account themes are out-of-date, you'll see a prompt near the top of the Style Panel indicating how many need to be updated. Click the prompt to update all the account themes. It only takes a short time, and when completed, you'll see a confirmation at the top of the Builder, and the prompt in the Style Panel will disappear.
