Overview
The Search Widget provides your campaign visitors with the ability to search through entries in a Voting Widget on that campaign. This makes it easier for people to promote their own entries to gather votes, or for people to find a specific entry they'd like to vote for.
It's easy to use; your visitors simply type their search term into the box, then click the magnifying glass icon or hit Enter/Return - the results appear directly inside the Voting Widget.
Note: The Search Widget is only available on our Business Plan or higher.
Setup
The Search Widget has a fairly straightforward setup. Here are the options you'll be able to alter:
Select a Voting Widget
This drop-down allows you to select the Voting Widget that the Search Widget will search for entries. You cannot link the Search Widget to multiple Voting Widgets.
Select Which Fields to Search
Here, select the fields that the Search Widget will include in the search. Options include Email, First Name, Last Name, Entry Title and Entry Description.
Note: If you are not including one or more of these fields in the Form Widget where people are submitting their entries, the Search Widget won't be able to use those fields in the search.
Search Field Label Text
The text you enter into this field is what will appear as the label for the field on your campaign. The default for this field is "Search Entries".
Search Field Placeholder Text
If you'd like to change the placeholder text, this is where you'd make that change.
Best Practice
We generally recommend placing the Search Widget directly adjacent to (either above or below) the Voting Widget to which it is attached. That way when your visitor has executed their search, they'll see the results right away versus having to scroll to search for the Voting Widget.
