Exporting your entries is quick and easy; and with our filtering system it's also simple to grab just the entries that you want. However, things get a little more complicated when exporting or copying entries that include custom fields that you've added to your list via the Form Widget.
In this doc, we'll explain how to export and copy your list entries so that the custom fields you've added are included in the export or on the new list. There are two ways to do this. Both methods require that you're filtering your entries to a single list. Here's how to do these exports properly:
Method One: Export
With the first method, you'll want to start at your account's Dashboard, which is where you are automatically placed when you log in.
- Click on Lists in the navigation bar at the top.
- To the right of the name of the list with the entries you're looking to export, click the number of entries to open the Entries Manager for that list.
- You should now see that the only thing appearing in the filters on the left side is your list's name under the Lists filter. IMPORTANT: DO NOT ADD ANY ADDITIONAL LISTS TO THE FILTER. Adding additional lists to the filter will remove your custom fields from the export file. You can use any other the other filters, if needed, to narrow down the list of entries for export.
- Click on the Export button.
- Select the Comma Separated Values (.csv) file type, then select either Only visible fields (if your custom fields are visible) or All fields. Enter your email address in the field provided, then click Export & Close.
- When the email arrives, click the enclosed link to download your .csv file.
Method One: Copy
- Follow steps 1-3 above.
- Click on the Copy to New List button.
- Add the name of your new list in the Name your list field and any tags you want to apply to the copied entries in the Add tags field, then hit Continue.
- Once the list is done being created, an alert will pop into the bottom-right corner of your screen. Click View to view the new list with the copied entries.
Method Two: Export
The other way to make sure you're properly filtering to only your list is to access the list from your Campaign Builder.
- In the Builder, click on the View Entries icon on your Form Widget - either in the Edit Widgets Panel (on the left) or in the preview area.
- This will bring you to the Entries Manager for the list attached to your Voting Widget. Like Method One, now you should now see that the only thing appearing in the filters on the left side is your list's name under the Lists filter.
Method Two: Copy
- Follow steps 1-2 above.
A Note About Viewing Your Export
When you export your .csv file and open it in your spreadsheet software of choice, it can sometimes be a bit overwhelming - especially if you chose to export using the All Fields option. Keep in mind that the fields may not be in the same order as they appeared on your form. Also; any custom fields you've added will always be in the right-most columns in your document - so if you don't see your custom fields at first, just keep scrolling right and you'll see them at the end.
