Overview

Instant Win allows you to award prizes instantly upon a form submission in your campaign.

Activating Instant Win

  1. Open Form Container Settings by clicking on the pencil icon in the Form Container.
  2. On the left-hand side, select the Instant Win tab.
  3. Click on Instant Win is disabled link.
  4. Check the Enable Instant Win checkbox.

Instant Win Settings

Basic Settings

Once Instant Win is enabled, you’ll see all of the Instant Win settings in the pop-up. 

Total Prizes

Choose between two prize distribution options:

  • Simple: Every winner receives the same prize or prize code. Simply enter the total number of prizes.
  • Advanced: Assign unique prizes using a code list. A pop-up will prompt you to select or upload a code list, and the total number of codes will then be displayed.

Winners

Provide a label for the winning entries or the default label will be 'winner'. It is recommended that you provide a unique label to make it easier to filter in the Entries Manager. 

Limit repeat winners by checking the box and setting the limit. 

Schedule

Set the Start Date, End Date, and Time Zone for your prize distribution. 

Advanced Settings

Click Advanced to access additional prize distribution controls:

Prize Distribution Strategy: 

  • Weighted: Distributed evenly based on the weight settings to the right.
    • Enter a value of 1 for even distribution throughout the contest.
    • Enter a higher value (up to 5) to prioritize prizes at the start.
  • All at the start: All prizes will be awarded from the start. (Read: Everyone is a winner until all prizes are claimed.)

Winning Days: Restrict prizes to specific days of the week.

Winning Times: Limit prize distribution to specific times of the day.

Instant Win Summary

Once you have enabled Instant Win, you can view a summary of your settings.

To access this:

  1. Open the Form Container Settings.
  2. Click on the Instant Win tab in the left-hand menu.
  3. In the pop-up, click the blue Enabled text to open the Instant Win Summary.

Making Changes

When adjusting your Instant Win campaign, the steps you take depend on whether you are still testing or the campaign is already live.

During Testing

If you are still in the testing phase and want to make changes (to continue testing or to prepare for launch):

  1. Click Reset Winners before making changes. This clears all awarded prizes and removes “won” labels, giving you a clean slate.
  2. If you see the Unlock Settings button (in red), it means you haven’t reset winners. Click Reset Winners first to edit Instant Win Settings.

Resetting winners prevents problems later, such as receiving more prizes than expected or mismatched labels.

Never change the code list without first clicking Reset Winners.

Best practice

  1. Check Reset Winners right before going live.
  2. If Reset Winners is visible, click the button to ensure all codes are ready to be distributed to entrants.
  3. If Reset Winners is disabled or you don’t see the Unlock Settings button, then you know you’re ready to go live.

After Going Live

To adjust how prizes are being distributed in a live campaign, follow these steps. 

  1. Do not click Reset Winners. Resetting in a live campaign will erase awarded prizes and disrupt the contest.
  2. Instead, click Unlock Settings, agree to the warning in the dialog.
  3. Click Edit Settings to proceed.
  4. Change any settings in the Schedule or Advanced sections.

Do not change the code list or winning-entry label once the campaign is live, as this can cause confusion when managing entries.

Note: Changing live settings will cause unclaimed prizes to be randomly redistributed across the remaining timeframe. This can be useful if you want to alter the pacing of prize awards.

Redistribute Prizes

If desired, you can randomly redistribute the available prizes without making any changes to your Instant Win. 

  1. Check the checkbox called, “Redistribute __ unclaimed prizes” below the graph on the Instant Win Summary page.
  2. Click Save to redistribute the prizes.
  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until you’re happy with the distribution you see in the graph.

Important Note

When copying a campaign that uses the Instant Win feature, the new campaign's Instant Win settings will be reset.

Instant Win FAQs

How do I test my Instant Win campaign without using up prizes?

You can test your Instant Win campaign using Preview Mode in the Builder. This method will not use any of your prizes alloted in the Instant Win settings.

  1. Open the campaign in the Builder.
  2. Ensure Test Entries is enabled. If not, you’ll see a red Live Entries button at the top. Click it to switch modes.
  3. Click the Preview button.
  4. Use the current date drop-down to select a time when Instant Win is live.
  5. Toggle the win/lose scenario.
  6. Fill out the form and submit a test entry.

Will my form automatically be hidden before the
Instant Win Start Date or after the Instant Win End Date?

No. The Start and End Dates only control when prizes are distributed. The form will still be visible, but entries submitted outside the prize period will automatically be non-winning.

I want every entry to receive a prize until all prizes are gone. How do I do this?

  1. Open the Instant Win Settings as described above.
  2. Click the Advanced section.
  3. Change the Prize Distribution Strategy to All at the Start.
  4. Click Continue, then Save.

Can I change the odds?

You can not change the odds of winning. Odds of winning refer to your likelihood of winning a prize, such as 1 out of 20 entries being a winner. Since Instant Win requires a set amount of prizes and you can't guarantee how many entries your contest will receive, you can't set the odds or likelihood of winning. However, you can adjust the prize distribution by opening the Advanced Settings. Here, you can adjust settings like making the weight heavier or distributing prizes only on certain days. How do I find winning entries after my contest has ended?

All winning entries are labeled "winner" by default unless you’ve used a custom label. You can use this label to filter in the Entries Manager:

  1. Open the Entries Manager.
  2. Use the filtering options on the left to select the relevant List.
  3. Apply the Labels Filter to include or exclude entries with the winner label.

How can I update an existing Instant Win Campaign with additional codes?

To add new codes to a code list in your instant win, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Code List Manager.
  2. Click on the actions for the code list you want to add new codes to.
  3. Select add codes.
  4. Click on + Add Codes at the top left of the pop-up.
  5. Add the codes via a .csv file.
  6. Open the campaign in the Builder.
  7. Open Instant Win settings and check the “Redistribute…” box, then click Save.
